Committee to Preserver Ivanhoe's Excellence Member (Year Long)
Be part of CPIE’s advocacy and
awareness group. CPIE is a grass roots organization and has no
formal board positions or structure. The goal of CPIE is to
mobilize parents as necessary around issues that affect Ivanhoe’s academic excellence.

Room Parent (Year long)
Every teacher requests that at least
one parent volunteer to be the point person to facilitate
communication between their child’s teacher, other classroom parents
and staff. The room parent is also the liaison between the
class and FOI, helping to relate information on fund raisers, safety
valet, etc.

Yearbook (June publishing design

Work with a committee to organize,
display and archive our old pictures for the enjoyment of the local
and Ivanhoe communities.

Book Fair
The fair
runs for a week in February and is staffed with volunteer families
from 8-5 every day. The committee is responsible for conceiving the
theme, coordinating classroom viewings, distributing flyers,
organizing teacher wish lists, selling, set-up, break down and all
reporting and communication with Scholastic and with Ivanhoe staff.

Ebay Coordinator
(Year Long)
Helps to solicit for events and
items to post for auction on Ebay. This is a new fundraiser at
Ivanhoe, but has traditionally helped other schools raise thousands
of dollars with little to minimal effort. We are working with the
Giving Engine who will ship items and provides any coordination that
needs to be done to insure that auctions are
fulfilled.

|
Fitness Fest (May)
Last
year the event was called Phyzzie Fit Phund. Join the committee and
develop another two day event at Ivanhoe. Students and teachers all
look forward to activities supporting physical health. This is a
great fundraiser as all funds go directly to Friends of Ivanhoe to
support needed programs, such as physical education. The committee
organizes and promotes pledge gathering, set-up and get parent
volunteers for the events. The last step is to count up the funds
for our Treasurer.

website. Email will be sent with closer to the

Garden Parents
(Year Round)
We need
parents with a green thumb to help maintain the “reading garden” on
the lower yard. This most treasured garden needs TLC through out
the year.
|
|
Green
Parents
(All Year)
We need
parents to help insure Ivanhoe maintains our environmentally
friendly approach to our campus. Jobs would include; organizing
the existing composting (used in our garden), making sure all our
events are as “green” as possible by using our recycling bins, water
coolers and having compostable cups and plates available when
needed.

Coin
Catcher
The Coin
Catcher event is an effort to get the kids involved in donating to
the school. A wonderfully designed ATM machine will be moved from
classroom to classroom each week. A parent needs to coordinate this
effort, arrange the winning class prize of pizza for their classroom
as well as counting the money at the end of the event.

Safety Valet
(Year round)
In order
to protect our kids and ease the considerable traffic problem around
Ivanhoe at drop-off, Ivanhoe, with the L.A. Department of
Transportation, has instituted a highly regarded safety valet
program. Parents volunteer to open car doors for children being
dropped off. The program has successfully been implemented at
Franklin Elementary School as well as other schools in the
district. We need 4 volunteers each morning. 20 volunteers would
mean each parent works 1 day a week; 80 volunteers, one day a
month. Please consider volunteering this few minutes of your time
in the morning.

Website
(Year round)
We have
two websites that are managed by volunteer parents
www.ivanhoeschool.org and
www.friendsofivanhoe.org. If you are a web designer, software
engineer or database guru we need you! If you like to write are in
touch with what is happening daily at school we need your help to
update information directly on the website. You don’t need prior
computer skills, just being comfortable with word processing.

coordination between customer and art designer, delivery to printer,
hanging banners on fence, creating invoices and collection of monies

Communications (Year round)
We need parents with a Graphics
background to help with communications for all FOI events through
out the year. Needs include: designing the image for a FOI event,
posters and sign designs, hand painting signs for the front of the
school, and graphic layouts for website logos as needed.

|
Writer’s Workshop Guitar Club(Any
time)
FOI runs
two exciting and successful after school programs: guitar club and a
writing workshop. Both were greeted with wild enthusiasm from
Ivanhoe’s children and brought free enrichment to our kids. We are
looking for more parent volunteers to support existing enrichment
programs (such as writing mentors) or to develop new enrichment
opportunities for the upcoming school year.

|
|
|
Merchandising
We need parents who would like to
organize and sell Ivanhoe gear. Water bottles, T-shirts, caps, bags
will be sold at community events throughout the year.
|
|
Homework Club (Year Round)
Volunteer once a week (or schedule your
time otherwise) and spend time with great kids at Ivanhoe’s most
productive club. The library remains open after school and the
parent volunteer is available to help kids with their homework.
The club works best when there are two parents each afternoon. If
you speak a second language, that helps too. Club is from
Monday-Thursday and from 2:30-4:00.
